You record a safety plan when a child is at imminent risk. The plan documents the steps that will be taken to protect the child and the actions participants will perform as part of the plan. A safety plan is a voluntary agreement between the participants and the agency. However, if the safety plan is not followed, legal action may follow. (See About assessment/investigations for more information.)
When you record the safety assessment before the safety plan, the system applies pertinent information to the safety plan.
